ENSS victorious at Bay of Quinte championships

Another cross country meet and another team victory for East Northumberland Secondary School at the Bay of Quinte Championships at Dunnett Orchards in Brighton on Wednesday.

ENSS cross-country news from the Bay of Quinte Championship, October 18, 2023

The East Northumberland SS cross-country team won the overall team title at the Bay of Quinte Championship, held at Dunnett Orchards, in Brighton, on Wednesday. ENSS earned a total of 50 team points, ahead of second place Nicholson CC (32 points) and third place Bayside (22 points). All ENSS runners contributed to the team championship.

ENSS took first place in three out of six divisions – novice boys, junior boys and senior boys. ENSS junior and senior girls were second and novice girls were fourth. Addie Davis finished third in the girls’ para race.

Individually, Owen McDougall led the junior boys’ race and set a new course record of 16:56 over 4.8 km. His teammate, Chase Eddy, was second, finishing less than a second behind Owen. Rounding out the team were Nate Boumhouwer (4), Noah Groeneveld (5), Liam Read (10), Orion Kovacs (12), Jonathan Trescher (16), Cale Flood-Graham (18), Josh Williams (19) and Gavin Allen (20).

Jack Turner is the Bay of Quinte novice individual champion. His novice teammates were Sullivan Tait (2), Dawson Dunham (3), Ethan McDougall (5), Dom Heller (6) and Alex Botting (8).

ENSS senior boys included Ethan Miklos (3), Aidan Molenhuis (4), Dom Noreau (5), Carter Geens (9), Owen Turner (22), Jacob Wamboldt (26), Todd Burgess (27), Aiden Guitar (31), Casey Barker (33) and Luca Walsh (35).

Kora Ferguson is the Bay of Quinte junior individual champion. Her teammates included Aleena Bos (4), Sophia Waite (12) and Alicia Bromfield (24).

The top ENSS novice girl was Rachel Horton (9) and her teammates were Chloe Nichols (11), Caris Hennessy (16) and Addison Hill (19).

The Blue Dragons will host the COSSA championship in Dunnett Orchards next Wednesday, October 25. Races start at 11:30 and fan support is appreciated!
