A Stirling-area man's 250-pound steel globe, a celebration of Canada's 150th birthday, has been unveiled on Parliament Hill.
Shawn Donnan's Canada 150 Globe, which features several iconic figures cut into steel, arrived in the capital Wednesday, and one of the first people to drop by was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The 48-year-old Oak Hills resident created the massive pictograph of Canada this spring, in the hope it would be displayed in Ottawa for July 1, and Prince Edward-Hastings MP Neil Ellis was able to get a one-day showing for Wednesday.
Donnan, who operates a metal fabricating shop, has produced a number of custom-made fire globes, and the Canada 150 Globe, which displays the CBC logo, the CN Tower, a Mountie and several other well-known Canadian figures, took more than 80 hours to create.
