A staff member at a maximum security prison near Bath, southeast of Napanee, has been assaulted.
 
Acting Assistant Warden Vicki Luscumb said the employee was assaulted at Millhaven Institution at about 9 a.m. Thursday, and was taken to an outside hospital for treatment.
 
The assailant was identified,  and the appropriate actions were taken.
 
The OPP and the institution are investigating.
 
Luscumb said normal operations will resume when it is considered safe to do so, and regularly scheduled visits may be affected.
