Tony Vani has been making music in the Belleville area for decades. He has performed and recorded across nearly every style of music, his smoky style taking over the stage, leaving his audience grasping for one more song.
He is a soulful singer and songwriter, as evidenced in his exciting new CD, ‘Her Blues’, crafted over seven years, with six bluesy classic rock tracks that have already received airplay on internet radio stations, Itunes, and other online music services.
You’ll also find these six tracks on YouTube: “Live Hard and Play Hard,” “Praying Mantis,” “Put On The Dog,” “Black Sheep of the Family,” “Her Blues,” and, “Tell me where is your life going.”
Tony is a respected singer and guitarist, but it is his harmonica that will grab you by the throat with harmonica lines that seem to emanate from the depths of a troubled soul. The best description for his playing is “authentic.” Check out some of Tony’s original songs and covers.
Tony is a compelling solo act, but also is a leading member of three dynamic groups, including the Holy Blues Band.
The Holy Blues band members consist of harmonica/vocalist Tony Vani, guitarist Matt Smith, bassist Vitas Slapkauskas, and drummer Chris Lingard. These seasoned musicians have played across Canada and the U.S. Together they interpret the likes of Gospel Blues singers Fred McDowell, the Staple Singers and Reverent Gary Davis in a rootsy style that's clearly close to their heart as well the bands R&B musical roots.
Tony Vani and the Holy Blues Band are taking the stage at the Old Church Theatre on Sunday afternoon, May 6.
