Brighton Speedway and three long-time sponsors have stepped up to create a $10,000 Late Model Sponsorship program in an effort to drive participation in the premier division.
The speedway announced Thursday they have partnered with Vanderlaan Building Supplies, Excess Storage and a fourth contributor to be named at a later date.
"We know car counts were down in 2022 coming out of covid but we already know of some new cars for 2023 and this program is just one more avenue to show our commitment to Late Models at Brighton Speedway and I cannot thank our great partners enough," said Mark Rinaldi, track owner and promoter.
The sponsorship will be offered to one driver that is interested in moving up from the Thunder Stock or the Canadian Modified division in Late Models for the complete 2023 season. Drivers from other divisions may also be eligible if they meet the rest of the application requirements.
If successful, the driver would get $5,000 up front to kick start the process and $1,000 per month to help fund the season. In exchange they would need to commit to running the entire 2023 season at Brighton Speedway as well as display the logos of the contributing sponsors on the car.
"We understand $10,000.00 is not enough to start or fund a complete Late Model race team but the thought is if there is a driver or a team that would like to take that next step and needs a bit of help, that this could be their opportunity to take advantage," stated Gerald Draaistra of Vanderlaan Building Supplies.
Drivers interested should email a proposal to brightonspeedwayinfo@gmail.com with details on how the $10,000 sponsorship would help them fund a Late Model race program and how they plan to execute such a plan.
The successful candidate will be contacted for further information.
