A group of community organizations formed to address social and other issues in Prince Edward County has marked an important occasion with a visit to the local OPP station.
Members of the Prince Edward County Situation Table celebrated their second anniversary on Thursday by touring the facility and meeting with the Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit.
The table, which communicates weekly, is an alliance of local services, with the goal of quickly reducing risk situations, usually within 24 to 48 hours.
Participants work together to review situations of elevated risk, determine if a person could be harmed or victimized, and take action to reduce the threat.
The OPP said seven cases were dealt with this year, with police calls for service being reduced, and appropriate care being found for the individuals in need.
