Securing the Future of Bay of Quinte

Securing the Future of Bay of Quinte

Ryan Williams believes in the Bay of Quinte.  Since 2003, he has been the lead architect of the branding and suggestion of greater region cooperation in tourism, population attraction, and business.  He has lived by the adage: “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.”

He was the Chair of Bay of Quinte Tourism, founder of Bay of Quinte Living (Which both combined to the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board), and co-founder of QuinteVation, which hosted Canada’s first Rural Innovation Summit in the fall of 2018.

As a candidate in the September 20 Federal Canadian Election for the Conservative Party, Ryan is proud to once again have the privilege to push the region further in his three priorities: Job Creation, Solving Our Housing Crisis, and Support of Mental Health as your member of parliament.

The Conservative Party has a plan to Secure the Future for Canada including:

Secure Jobs

Secure the Economy

Secure Mental Health

Secure The Country

Secure the Environment

And Secure Accountability

With these pillars, Erin O’Toole has released Canada’s Action Plan from the Conservative Party, a 189-page plan for the future of Canada (you can find here - https://cpcassets.conservative.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/16102359/f8279981721e07a.pdf).

Here are Ryan’s Top Priorities, if elected, in the region.

To Secure Jobs

We will relentlessly create jobs, increase wages, and get the Bay of Quinte and Canada’s economy back on track including the following initiatives:

- Canada Surge Plan which would pay up to 50% of the salary of employees up to 6 months to get people off of CERB and back to work

- Provide a 5% investment tax credit in 2022 and 2023 for companies that spend more

- Encourage company creation by providing a 25% tax credit for new companies created under $100,000

- Work in a low wage job? We will give you an $1/HR Raise. We would double the Canada Worker’s Benefit to $2800 for individuals and $5000 for families to be paid by direct deposit quarterly.

- A new $250 million job training fund to train existing workers into better paying jobs

To Fix Our Housing Crisis:

We will make housing our priority to make it more affordable, increase supply swiftly, and implement a plan to build 1 million housing units in the next three years including:

          •        Reviewing the extensive real estate portfolio of the federal government, with over 37,000 buildings, and released at least 15% for housing

          •        Work with the provincial government to increase skilled trades and to look at more accurate population intensification growth models. To stabilize prices, we need to swing hammers.

          •        Revive programs that allow homeowners to create secondary suites in their homes to create affordable rental units

          •        We will ban foreign investors not living in or moving to Canada from buying homes here for two years, after which the program will be reviewed.

          •        We will encourage for an investment and purpose-built rental housing that is affordable to Canadians.

          •        To address homelessness, we will re-implement the housing first approach which was water down by the liberal government and I will work personally with Grayson, Hastings County Court and municipalities on this important issue

To Secure Mental Health

A Conservative government will treat mental health as health.  We will:

          •        Boost funding to the provinces for mental health care for counselling, support, and care.

          •        Provide incentives for employers to provide mental health coverage to employees

          •        Create a nationwide three-digit suicide prevention hotline

          •        Create a pilot program to revive $150 million over three years in grants to non-profits and charities delivering mental health

          •        Treat the opiate epidemic as the health issue it is. We feel that law enforcement should focus on drug dealers and traffickers.  We will revise the federal government substance-abuse policy framework to make recovery its overarching goal.
