Sandbanks Provincial Park gets a Blue Flag

A local provincial park has been recognized for  environmental excellence.

Outlet Beach at Sandbanks will fly Environmental Defence's "Blue Flag" this summer, joining Wasaga Beach as only the second provincial park in Ontario to receive the international eco-certification.

Program Manager Brett Tryon says the park has not only stunning beaches and dunes, but it also has great environmental programming, responsible habitat management, accessible facilities and excellent water quality.

Beaches and marinas must meet high international standards in water quality, environmental management, environmentalal education, and safety and services, to receive a Blue Flag.

Twenty-seven beaches and eight marinas across Canada will fly the flag this summer.
