Ryan Williams - A decades-long devotion to Bay of Quinte

Ryan grew up in Trenton, then Stirling, and finally settled in Belleville after attending the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He met his wife, Allyson, in 2008, and they married in 2009. Ryan and Allyson are proud parents of three young children, Jack, Patrick, and Zooey. They lost a son Teddy in 2015.

Long before the riding took the name, Ryan took the reins of Bay of Quinte Tourism as its President to promote a cohesive region.

“I have always recognized the potential in this region. The fun part of promoting Quinte was in tourism. Back in 2007, the County was taking off, and the rest of the region still was getting its legs. We took tourism and merged it with homebuilders and realtors to create the Bay of Quinte Marketing Board, the first of its kind in Canada. But my passion was in QuinteVation, a then organization formed to bring together local entrepreneurs, growth-stage companies, and marketed the regional as a ‘rural innovation’ destination.”

This culminated in Bay of Quinte hosting the first Canadian Rural Innovation Summit in 2018 right when Ryan was elected first in the polls to Belleville City Council.

“I have always believed in this region.  I believe in the people here, in our community, and in what we can do here. Running for your Member of Parliament was my natural next step. I would be honoured to be voted as your representative to take Bay of Quinte to the next level.”

Ryan is running in an election predicted for as early as September with the Conservative Party of Canada with Erin O’Toole as its leader.

“I feel this election was tailored towards what I bring to this region,” states Williams. “Our slogan is ‘Secure the Future’ - and this election is completely a choice about our future. Following is our party’s 6-point plan."

Secure Jobs

We will recover the one million jobs lost during the pandemic within one year, and I will lead a more engaging local strategy that ensures we not only have the jobs, but also the employees of the future, here in the Bay of Quinte, across all levels of industry, no matter how large or how small.

For Canada’s Conservatives, job number one is jobs, and we’re the only party that will get as many people back to work in every part of Canada, in every sector, as quickly as possible.

Secure the Economy

We will get the economy rolling again after years of slow growth. We need to ensure that we grow to provide the revenue to pay for all the government services we have come to expect, while also responsibly and competently managing our finances.

This country needs to thrive. Conservatives will grow this country and our economy while not passing unsustainable debt to our children.

Secure Accountability

Canada’s Conservatives will put the country first by enacting the toughest accountability and transparency laws in this country’s history.

That includes toughening of conflict of interest and lobbying rules, and increasing transparency to end cover ups.

We can’t afford more of the same corruption, cover-ups, and entitlement we’ve seen over the last six years. Conservatives will hold ourselves to the highest of standards of accountability.

Secure Our Country

There will be many hard lessons to be learned as we come out of this pandemic. One thing is for sure - we must ensure that this never happens again. I will work hard to ensure that should a pandemic happen again – we are ready.

Our goal is simple: be prepared and take rapid action so that we can protect the health of Canadians while avoiding long-term impacts on the economy and on the mental health of Canadians.

We need to secure our country by being prepared for the next pandemic, and any future threats to this great nation.

Secure Mental Health

The last year has made clear the mental health crisis we face. This pandemic has been hard on everyone. It’s time to make it clear that mental health IS health, and to treat it properly.

I have talked to so many people who need meaningful action on mental health, right now. It's why a Conservative government led by Erin O'Toole will bring a new Canada Mental Health Action Plan.

We need to Secure Mental Health for the future of this region and this country.

Secure the Environment

Rebuilding Canada’s economic and environmental health is the cornerstone of our approach to combat climate change and secure the future for all Canadians. We will fight climate change and protect the environment, but we won’t do it on the backs of working Canadians.

Canada’s Conservatives will meet our Paris climate commitment and reduce emissions by 2030, but without the government taxing working Canadians and without driving jobs and investment out of the country. We will stand up to major polluters like China, and introduce a low carbon savings account for Canadians to help them go green.

This is a serious and credible plan to secure the environment and I am prepared to work this plan in Parliament for the betterment of the people of The Bay of Quinte and Canada.
