Replica firearm seized during traffic stop on 401 near Cobourg

Two people were arrested and a replica firearm was seized as a result of a traffic stop on Highway 401 in Cobourg.   

Monday morning around 7 am, officers with Northumberland OPP stopped a vehicle seen driving at a high rate of speed on the eastbound 401 near Cobourg.

During the stop, one of the occupants allegedly removed a firearm from the glove box and placed it on the dashboard.

Officers then arrested both occupants. Further investigation revealed that the firearm was a replica (photo attached).

As a result, Yixuan ZOU of Toronto (age 23) has been charged with:

·      Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Speeding over posted limit

Xinze CHI of Mississauga (age 19) has been charged with:

·      Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

Both are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on September 7, 2022.
