A leading advocate for children in Quinte is stepping down as executive director of The Children’s Foundation.
Connie Reid has led the Foundation for the past nine years, during which time, it expanded into Northumberland and Prince Edward Counties; increased awareness that it is everyone’s responsibility to prevent child abuse; implemented a new website; improved its major gift campaign, and increased revenues from several special events.
Sam Brady, Chair of The Children's Foundation Board of Directors, stated Reid’s resignation is “bittersweet.”
“We are sad to see her move on, but so very grateful for the wonderful leadership she provided, and the amazing position in which she leaves our organization," he stated.
"Her fund development, partnership building skills and most importantly her ability to affect positive change for children and youth we support, will serve The Children’s Foundation for years to come.”
Reid, who will be joining the newly formed Catholic Children’s Aid Foundation in Toronto stated the decision to leave “did not come easily.”
“However, the opportunity to take all the lessons I have learned, during these past years, to the newly formed Catholic Children’s Aid Foundation as their Executive Director was very appealing,” she stated.
Brady stated the board will begin its search for a next executive director on March 11.
