A quick reponse from area firefighters contained a blaze at the Bay of Quinte Country Club in Belleville on Friday morning.
 
Crews including those from Bayside Station 3 were called there around 6:45 a.m. -- they held and extinguished the fire on the second floor in the boardroom area.
 
Fire Chief John Whelan informed our newsroom that batteries stored on the second floor shorting were reponsible for the fire resulting in smoke damage to the boardroom.
 
Crews remained at the scene until 8:30 a.m.
 
No injuries were reported -- early damage estimate are said to be about $5,000.
