The city of Quinte West didn’t look very far to find its new chief administrative officer, just as far as its finance office.
Director of Corporate and Financial Services David Clazie was announced Monday night at the city’s new CAO, replacing Charlie Murphy who retired officially on Friday.
Clazie has been director and city treasurer for the last 11 years and has been with the City of Quinte West since 2003.
Mayor Jim Harrison stated in a release that Clazie “embodies the innovation and energy the city needs as we move forward.
“He brings a wealth of experience and is passionate about serving the community.”
During Monday’s council meeting, every member of council took a moment to congratulate Clazie on his promotion.
Coun. Terry Cassidy said Clazie is “an outstanding person who has done an outstanding job. I am looking forward to the same kind of performance as our new CAO.”
Coun. David O’Neil added he is a strong advocate of promoting from within. “We know what we are getting with David,” he noted.
In the release, Clazie stated he was thrilled to accept the position and he looked forward to working with council, staff, and residents to continue realizing the tremendous potential of the community.
“The City of Quinte West is poised for significant growth over the next few years,” he said.
The release stated Quinte West Council engaged Palmer and Associates for the search for the city’s next CAO.
“Out of the strong pool of candidates, Clazie was the clear choice from the interview panel, made up of city councillors,” the release states.
