Quinte West firefighters are working to put out a brush fire in a field near Aikins Road in Bayside.

Fire Chief John Whelan said five stations were called to the fire behind Bayside Fire Hall and Hospice Quinte at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.

Whelan said he was initially concerned about possible fire exposure to the hospice and a nearby house.

All of the occupants in the house were evacuated safely and uninjured.

He said the fire is under control and there are no injuries.

The OPP has also been called in to investigate a cause.
