The historic Fire Bell that has been part of Quinte West lore for generations has a new home.

Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan stated the bell has been installed at the new Quinte West Station #1 at 49 Dixon Drive in Trenton Ward.

The 145-year-old bell was originally erected at the first Fire Hall in Trenton in 1875, according to Whelan, then moved in 1968 to the former station at 165 Front Street.

Whelan added the bell compliments the Fire Department's heritage room that consists of old photos and artifacts from the former four wards that make up the City of Quinte West.
