Saturday night will be a time to recognize the frontline workers who risk their lives to make everyone else's better during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
A National Cheer will take place at 8:30 p.m. across Canada and the leader of a local charitable organization is hoping everyone in Quinte and across Canada will participate in it.
Susan Eastbury is the Governor of the Picton Kinettes -- she said the recognition is not just about any one type of frontline worker, but about efforts of many.
"It's everybody. It's everybody that's out there that's helping", said Eastbury. "All of the service organizations are doing something and there's so many individuals that are doing something."
As for Eastbury and her group, they have been delivering essential items to the elderly who are shut in while she has been grocery shopping for neighbours so fewer people go out into town -- a way of reducing any potential spread of the coronavirus.
Eastbury explained how people can take part in Saturday's event.
"On Saturday, April 4 at 8:30 p.m., please turn on your patio light and stand on your doorstep or open a window and clap and cheer as loud as you can for all the frontline workers. Medical professionals and staff, caregivers, food and medical delivery drivers, shop workers and anyone else on the front line, risking their own lives to make ours' better."
Similar recongnitions have already taken place in some Canadian cities during the evening and those communities vowed to continue those celebrations nightly until the pandemic ends.
