Lights!  Sound!  Magic!  Quinte Ballet School of Canada (QBSC) invites you to join them for their much-anticipated annual celebration for all ages, ‘HOLIDAY DANCE’ featuring NUTCRACKER favourites! 

With two afternoon matinee performances to choose from at 1pm and 4:30pm, both at just over one hour in length, families can easily plan their day’s activities.  ‘Holiday Dance’ takes place on Saturday, December 16th in Centennial Secondary School’s spacious theatre auditorium, located at 160 Palmer Road in Belleville.

The theatre will resound with the music from Tchaikovsky’s beautiful score, written in 1892 for the classical ballet masterpiece, The Nutcracker.  Originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, the libretto was adapted from E. T. A. Hoffmann's ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’, by way of Alexandre Dumas' adapted story ‘The Nutcracker’. 

QBSC’s production features many of the favourite highlights from the beloved ballet, including your favorite characters of the Russian, Chinese, Arabian, and Spanish dances, the Sugar Plum Fairy, whirling snow flakes and dancing flowers, all before the backdrop of the giant Christmas tree!  After each performance, audience members will have the opportunity to take their photo on the Sugar Plum Fairy’s throne, meet the dancers, and enjoy some festive treats in the Candy Cane Café.

‘Holiday Dance’ highlights the tremendous commitment and talent of QBSC’s professional program students, many of whom have travelled to study with QBSC from as far away as Mexico and from British Columbia to Newfoundland.  Twelve dancers appearing in the show are from the Quinte area and chose to remain at home to attend the high-ranking professional training school.   ‘Rehearsing and preparing the Nutcracker excerpts is always a much-anticipated time of year for QBSC’s professional training program students,’ says Catherine Taylor, Artistic Director, ‘our students love to perform and share their love of dance with their audiences.  You will be amazed at their excellence!’

Tickets for ‘Holiday Dance’ are reserved seating, and prices are Adults $22, Seniors & Students $18, and Children 12 years and under are $12.
