Paramedics in Northumberland County are about to benefit from new equipment.
They may wear powered air purified respirators when responding to 911 calls as of this week.
The fully-sealed head-covered respirators filter and circulate the air breathed by the wearer through a HEPA filter and will be sanitized after each use.
The new equipment was bought with money from provincial Safe Restart Funding and will help in reducing the dependence on disposable PPE that continues to be in high demand across Canada.
