The new President and CEO of Belleville's Loyalist College is as positive about the Quinte Region itself as she is about her new job.
Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan was introduced to the media on Tuesday at the college.
When asked about her reasons for leaving Newfoundland and Labrador, where she was president and CEO for the College of the North Atlantic, she said the Quinte Region is very appealing, especially for people seeking to raise a family.
Vaughan comes to Quinte with her husband John Oliver and their 11 year old daughter Kathleen Oliver.
Vaughan said Kathleen is an avid skater and she has already reached out to the Quinte Figure Skating Club.
As far as the college itself goes, Vaughan said Loyalist figures prominently in the Ontario College System, which is one of the most respected in all of Canada.
She said Loyalist is deeply committed to the community it serves and that is something that resonates with her lifelong history of community involvement.
She also remarked on the value of the media arts program and that the photojournalism program is one of the most respected in Canada.
Vaughan will attend her first board meeting as the new President and CEO of Loyalist College on Thursday.
