The Quinte West Fire Department is adding a pumper truck to its fleet.
The city's Protective Services Committee voted at its meeting on Tuesday evening to approve the purchase of the vehicle from Darch Fire in Ayr, Ontario for $456,000.
Fire Chief John Whelan says the truck, a demonstrator model, is one year old, and will cost $50,000 less than if it was new..
It will be stationed at the main fire hall in Trenton.
The fire department will also acquire a piece of equipment to help personnel get around areas that are difficult to reach.
The committee voted to approve the purchase of a six passenger side-by-side A-T-V at a cost of just under $16,000.
It will be located at the Bayside fire hall, and will be able to access places a fire truck might not.
The committee also gave the green light to the purchase of a set of portable jaws of life for $29,500.
It will be added to the equipment at the Batawa station.
