Another new doctor is slated to come to Quinte West in the fall of 2020.
The Quinte West Physician Recruitment and Retention Program announced they have signed Dr. Drew Moore, who was born and raised in Belleville and has a medical degree from the University of Toronto, to a Medical Services Agreement.
Dr. Moore, who also has degrees in science from Queen’s and Western, is currently completing his final year of family medicine residency in Collingwood, On. with McMaster University and expects to begin practicing in Quinte West in the fall of 2020.
“I’m very excited to be returning close to home to practice and look forward to serving the community of Quinte West. I am interested in a full-scope family practice, with a particular interest in palliative care” said Dr. Moore.
In his spare time he enjoys golf, curling, theatre and playing the guitar.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison said the city was very happy to welcome Dr. Moore to Quinte West.
“This is another great example of how working together with the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Physician Recruitment Committee continues to benefit the healthcare of our citizens,” stated Harrison.
John Smylie, Physician Recruitment Committee Chair and Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation Board Member noted it can take years to recruit a new family physician to the region.
He stated local physician Dr. Nick Martin introduced Dr. Moore to recruitment coordinator, Paula Mason, 18 months ago.
The Quinte West Physician Recruitment Program is a joint partnership between the City of Quinte West and The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation, with support from the Municipality of Brighton. Dr. Moore is the 4th new family physician signed by the city over the past 12 months.
