New coach at Loyalist College

A new men's varsity basketball coach has been named at Loyalist College.

Former Loyalist student athlete Patrick Kabeya will start coaching the team for the 2016/17 season.

The twice-named Male Athlete of the Year has coached at the high school and club levels, recently earning an OFSAA bronze medal for his time with Central Toronto Academy High School.

Kabeya takes over for Ryan Barbeau, who resigned after the 2015/16 season for personal reasons.

The new coach says he is most excited about working with the returning team and recruiting new players.

Athletics Director Jim Buck says Kabeya will fit in well with the program, as coaches are expected to recognize athletes as students first.
