A beloved Super Series Motorcycle racer is being remembered and mourned after a tragic collision in Shannonville on Sunday.
Jose Azevedo of Newmarket died following a collision in a sanctioned race at Shannonville Motorsports Park that left four other racers injured.
A post on the Super Series Facebook page said Azevedo was a 'fixture in the paddock', everyone’s friend, and was famous for his Portuguese BBQs.
It added his fellow racers will miss his larger-than-life personality and generous spirit and gave condolences to his loved ones on behalf of the extended racing family.
The page has changed its profile to an image of a Portuguese flag in Azevedo's memory to acknowledge his heritage.
OPP officials confirmed there was a death of a motorcycle racer, but was not able to disclose the name themselves.
The OPP did not revealed the extent of the other racers' injuries in its initial media release.
