A new course record was enough to lift Luke Moser to his first professional tour win Thursday.
Moser was the winning pro at the second JT Classic Pro Am tournament at Trillium Wood, carding an impressive 64 to capture his first professional event.
Local trio Jerry Traer, Matt Rennick and Steph Cormier with pro Sebastian Szirmak carded a 12 under to win the team championship.
Ryan Lapalm was the top local player, carding a 68.
The event raised almost $8,000 for Grace Inn Shelter.
Local organizer Jodie Jenkins said the organizers were “pretty excited” about the success of the event.
Moser and Szirmak are both members of the Great Lakes Tour, the supporting tour of the event. The top 15 members of the tours Order of Merit qualified to play in the tournament.
Prior to his win, Moser was 12th on the Order of Merit; Szirmak was second behind Mitch Sutton.
Moser previously earned a second place finish at the GLT event a Copetown Woods and third at the GLT event at Tarandowah. He placed seventh at the 2018 GLT Waterloo Championship and eighth at the GLT Shootout.
Moser and Szirmak will tee off together at 9:10 a.m. Friday in the tour’s event at Trillium Wood. Sutton tees off at 8:30 a.m. Brett Cairns and Dustin Risdon open the even teeing off at 7:30 a.m.
