A search for a missing Belleville woman last seen in the Killaloe area has come to a tragic end.

Ontario Provincial Police posted to social media Thursday that 48-year-old Catherine Lewis was located deceased.

Lewis, who was known to frequent the Killaloe, Pembroke and the Belleville areas, had been last seen Dec. 28 in the area of Boyle Lane in Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Township.

On Wednesday police found Lewis in her vehicle down an embankment on Letterkenny Road, near Opeongo Road, in the Township of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan.

A post mortem examination has been ordered by the Office of the Chief Coroner. The incident has been deemed as non -suspicious at this time. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
