The Ministry of Labour is investigating after a person died in a workplace incident at a construction site in Belleville.
Emergency responders were called to a medical incident at 640 College Street East on Saturday morning. The site is currently under construction for a large warehouse development rumoured to be the home of an Amazon Distribution Centre.
Jennifer Rushby, communications spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development said one worker sustained fatal injuries in an incident at the construction project.
"Our condolences to the friends and family of the individual who lost their life," she said in an email to InQuinte.
Rushby said the employer involved in the incident is KCK Contracting Ltd and the constructor is Broccolini Construction Inc out of Toronto.
Two orders were issued to KCK Contracting Ltd and three requirements to Broccolini Construction Inc, Rushby said.
Two requirements were issued to secondary employers, one to Canam Group Inc and another to Enterprises Eric Lemire Inc.
Rushby said the investigation is ongoing and further comments won't be made at this time.
