The RCMP Aboriginal Pre-Cadet Training Program will include a local man.

Trey Bardy of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory of the Bay of Quinte is one of two youth from Ontario to attend a three week program in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The program runs until June 2nd and allows the opportunity for participants to experience an inside look in the life of an RCMP officer and get hands-on experience in the police force's training program.

Bardy will receive a variety of training related to working with the RCMP, including physical fitness and training in the form of problem-solving skills, public speaking and cultural diversity.

The national police service is aiming to increase the number of Indigenous officers to ten percent to better represent communities served across Canada.
