Medals aplenty for Quinte West Minor Hockey teams over weekend

It was an exciting and successful weekend for Quinte West minor hockey.

Five of its teams made the final games of tournaments across the province, with two of them winning gold.

The Under-10 Quinte West Golden Hawks defeated the Mississippi Thunder Kings from the Ottawa area in the final of the Regional Silver Stick and have now qualified to compete in the International Silver Stick in January.

Meantime, the U15 Golden Hawks won the Peggy Hill Classic by topping the host Barrie Junior Colts 2-1.

Silver medals went to the U11, U14, and U18 teams.

The U11 team lost in the final of the Playstation Platinum Cup to the London Jr. Mustangs 3-2, while the U14 Hawks fell 6-1 to London and the U18's dropped a 4-1 decision to Kitchener, both at the PHC in Barrie.
