MacMillan undefeated at B.C. Curling championships

A former standout at the Quinte Curling Club is currently leading the pack racing to represent British Columbia at this years Scotties Tournament of Hearts Canadian Curling Championships.

Kayla MacMillan won the A Qualifier 6-5 over Mary-Anne Arsenault to improve to 3-0 at the triple knockout provincial championship and earn a place in the four-team playoff format.

Against Arsenault, one of the favourites coming into the event, MacMillan and her team of Jody Maskiewich, Lindesay Bubue and Sarah Loken scored their deuce in the 10th end for the win.

MacMillan fell behind 3-2 early after giving up a steal of two in the second and a single in four, but MacMillan tied the game in seven and stole to take the lead before the 10th end deuce.

MacMillan opened the event with an impressive 9-4 win over Diane Gushulak from New Westminster before stunning two-time defending champion Corryn Brown 7-3 to earn the berth in the A final.

MacMillan will open the playoffs Friday night at 7 p.m.. The championship game is Sunday at 9 a.m.
