The Quinte Bay Gymnastics Club’s provincial compulsory and invitational team members achieved the following results at a provincial qualifier and invitational meet last weekend in Ottawa. 

Members of the local crew swept the top four all around results in Level 2 Age 9 to lead a strong effort by the entire team.

Leading the strong results in Level 2 Age 9 were Siobhan Joyce, first all around, floor and beam; Audrey Harbour, second all around, bars and floor, Sinead Joyce, third all around, first beam; Isabelle Collier, fourth all around, first vault; and Jenna Kang, first bars, sixth all around.

Other club members under the age of 9 competing under the Gymnastics Ontario certificate program receive a certificate with stickers that reflect the score they received within a range.

The idea behind this program is to introduce athletes to competitive gymnastics without placing a strong emphasis on their scores relative to their fellow competitors. This program gives athletes an idea of how well they have executed routines and gives them exposure to competition without feeling as though they are being ranked in an absolute order.

Those athletes that are level 3 age 9 and higher are eligible for provincial championships being held at Quinte Bay in June. They have one more meet in Kingston at the end of April to qualify.
