Local figure skater places 12th in world debut

A local figure skater has completed his debut on the world stage this week.
 
Trennt Michaud of Trenton and his partner Evelyn Walsh of London, Ont. skated to a 12th place finish in the pairs competition with a score of 56.89 after the free skate earlier on Thursday at the World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama, Japan.
 
Combining that score with their score of 59.84 after the pairs short program on Wednesday, the pair ended up with a total of 114.56 to finish off their 2018-19 season.

Fellow Canadians Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro finished seventh, while Wenjing Sui and Cong Han of China claimed the gold medal.
