A former Trenton Police Chief has passed away.

Flags are at half-mast in Quinte West in honour of David Saunders, who died on Saturday.

Saunders was the Chief of Police in Trenton for 21 years -- one highlight of his long career was overseeing the opening of the Campney Police Services Building in 1985.

He was also present at Quinte West City Hall to help open a time capsule last October that was placed in the Campney Building, which was recently demolished.
