A family was forced to flee as flames spread through their home just north of Frankford Sunday evening.
Emergency response crews were called to a home on William Donald Drive around 6:10 p.m.
Quinte Fire Chief John Whelan said a man and wife got out with their infant baby after the smoke detectors went off.
“The gentleman was taken to Trenton Memorial with smoke inhalation,” Whelan stated. “We are looking at either the furnace or the air conditioning unit going up the wall or something with the stove we are not sure but there is lots of damage.”
He said the fire caused significant damage around $200,000.
Whelan praised Murray Ward firefighters for their quick response and getting the blaze out quickly.
Earlier in the day, firefighters were called to a blaze at the Ramada Inn on Glen Miller Road near Highway 401.
Whelan said they were called around 3:30 p.m. after the fire began in an air conditioning unit in one of the walls on the third floor of the motel.
“When they arrived the manager of the Ramada had put the fire out with an extinguisher,” Whelan explained. “But there was lot of smoke damage within that room.”
He said guests on the third floor were evacuated because of the smoke and placed in other rooms at the motel.
No one was injured and Whelan said damage is set around $5,000.
