Elvis is alive and well and living in Tweed – at least this weekend.
The sixth annual Elvis Tribute Festival in Tweed has kicked off with 23 Elvis Tribute Artists hitting the stage Friday and Saturday morning to the delight of hundreds of fans.
Elvis Tribute Artists from as far away as Germany has flocked to the village for the weekend, either to compete for a spot at the annual Elvis Tribute Artist championships in Memphis, or just to entertain the Elvis faithful.
This year, Tweed has added a senior’s championship to its agenda, which will take to the stage Sunday after the young Elvis presentation and the traditional Sunday gospel hour. The finals for the Elvis competition get underway at 3 p.m.Saturday night last year’s champion, Pat Dun, will put on a special show backed by the Casino Kings.
Friday night, Freddie Vette and the Flames thrilled the crowd after the first round of competition.
