Two homes were heavily damaged but a large dog was saved from a fire in Quinte West on Thursday.
A passerby spotted a garage on fire on Stonegate Cres in Frankford, but by the time firefighters arrived it had spread to the house and the neighbouring house.
Firefighters kept the fire from spreading beyond the two homes to the neighbouring houses, although those did suffer some damage to the siding, Fire Chief John Whelan reported.
Whelan said firefighters also rescued a large dog that was in one of the homes. No one else was home.
He said the fire marshall was being called in because of the extensive damage. One home was completely gutted while the other was heavily damaged. A boat was also damaged.
Whelan said no cause for the fire has been determined yet.
