David Rattelle, an exceptional guitarist in concert

An Exceptional Classical guitarist comes to Belleville

David Ratelle will give a classical guitar recital at Saint Thomas' Anglican Church on Sunday afternoon, February 21st, as part of Saint Thomas' 2015 - 2016 music series. 

David Ratelle holds a Master's degree in music performance from the Montreal Conservatory of Music, where he studied under Jean Vallières until 2011. He was unanimously awarded the "Prix avec grande distinction" for his degree recital in guitar performance. He had been awarded the same prize the previous year for his degree recital in chamber music. He pursued post-graduate studies for one year under Peter McCutcheon at the University of Montreal.

In 2012, Ratelle won the "Grand prix de la guitare de Montréal" in the classical guitar category. In 2010 and 2013, he performed as a soloist with symphony orchestras conducted by Raffi Armenian and Lorraine Vaillancourt. He also toured in France in 2014. He has recently been invited to play with Kent Nagano and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra on the 27th of February, 2016.

Over the past few years, Ratelle's performances were broadcasted on Radio Ville-Marie, Radio Classique Montréal  (CJPX), CBC / Radio-Canada Espace musique. He also performed live on Radio France in Brittany. In addition to his activities as a soloist, he is active in chamber music ensembles, as an accompanist and as an arranger. He is currently professor of classical guitar for the preparatory school of the Montreal Conservatory of Music, and De Mortagne high school.

The recital will start at 4:30 PM. A reception will follow. Free-will offering.
