Cobourg Police lay stunt driving charge

Cobourg police have charged a 41-year-old man with stunt driving following an incident on Tuesday morning.

Around 6 am (on July 13th), police conducting speed enforcement in the area of Elgin Street West and Wilkins Gate stopped a vehicle traveling at 126km/h in a zone with a posted speed limit of 50km/h.

As a result, a Cobourg man was charged with:

• Drive Motor Vehicle perform stunt under section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

The vehicle was impounded for 14 days, and the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days.

Cobourg Police Service would like to remind the public to slow down to help keep communities safe.
