CML Snider Elementary School in Wellington will reopen for classes on Monday after it was closed due to a positive COVID-19 case on Thursday.
Hastings Prince Edward District School Board Director of Education Sean Monteith stated he made the initial decision to close the Wellington public school last week, because neither he, nor principal, Tina Jones, could be assured that there would be enough staff to teach and safely supervise students while public health completed contact tracing.
However, he announced in a letter to the school community yesterday that the HPE Public Health Unit has now contacted all high risk contacts of the positive COVID-19 case, who are now isolating.
Monteith stated other members of the school community are not required to isolate at this time.
The school has been cleaned and disinfected and Monteith is asking all students, families and staff to continue following public health measures to keep safe by following safety protocols and completing daily screening before coming to school.
The Director of Education's full letter can be found on the board website.
