The Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program has received a grant for $1,864.50 from the Canada Post Community Foundation for a website modernization project that will give better access to program information to schools and community members in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
This project focuses on upgrading the current website design and content, with an interactive component that will reach more children, one click at a time! The design of a new responsive website will allow schools to participate virtually and access contest templates and nomination forms online.
“We are thrilled to have received the support of the Canada Post Community Foundation. The development of a new interactive and innovative website with an online presence will enhance, encourage and simplify school and community participation. Access to program information virtually, will reduce physical barriers and help to meet the growing need of a technical world,” said Chris Macdonald, co-chair of the Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program.
“Canada Post is proud to help organizations and projects that make a difference in the lives of Canadian children and youth. Through the generosity of our customers and employees, the Canada Post Community Foundation is able to fund important programs in communities across the country every year,” says Doug Ettinger, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Post.
The purpose of the Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Program is to promote positive energy to counteract the negative effects of violence, through acts of kindness. For the past 27 years, the VARAK Program has been offered to 60 area elementary and 14 high schools and encourages and empowers 26,000 students in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties to demonstrate kindness in their everyday lives within their home, school, community, and beyond.
