Brighton Speedway crowned its 2022 season champions over the weekend.
At its annual celebration at the King Edward Arena in Brighton on Saturday season champs were awarded trophies and cash prizes.
The 2022 champs are Late Model No. 5 Steve Baldwin, Canadian Modified No. 53 Wade Purchase, Thunder Stock No. 0 Tyler French, Mini Stock No. 18 Carter Rhodes, Comp 4 No. 44 Tommy Bailey and Stinger No. 93 Jordan Pickell.
Some of the Specialty Awards presented included: the Corey Bird Memorial to Race Director Jason McCrory; the George Reid Memorial to Warren Mowat and the Promoters Award to Paul Crouter.

Vanderlaan Building Products Late Models:
1st: No. 5 Steve Baldwin. Steve secured the most checkered flags (15) and most feature flags (4). He finished fourth in the Northeast Late Model Alliance. Baldwin Racing also received a specialty award for Best Pit Crew.
Runner up: No. 87 Andrew Hennessy. Andrew was also crowned Northeast Late Model Alliance champion for the second straight year.
3rd: No. 11 Kyle Sopaz. Kyle tied Baldwin for most feature flags at 4. He also finished 11th in the Northeast Late Model Alliance standings.
4th: No 57 Charlie Sandercock. Charlie set a track record for the fastest lap - 13.739 sec/miles/h during Applefest on September 23. Charlie finished runner up in the Northeast Late Model Alliance standings.
5th: No. 46 Brandon Mowat. Brandon was ninth in the Northeast Late Model Alliance standings.
6th: No. 55 Brad Rayner. Brad picked up sixth place in the Northeast Late Model Alliance standings.
7th: No 92 Adam Turner. Adam was third in the Northeast Late Model Alliance standings.
8th: No, 21 Rich Sanders
9th: No. 33 David Vandertoorn. David was also recognized as the Most Improved Driver in the division.
10th: No. 01 Eli Mayhew
11th: No. 77 Caley Weese. Caley was also awarded the specialty award for Hard Luck after an injury forced her out of the driver's seat for the season. Her husband James Seymour wheeled the 77 machine for the remainder of the season. "It’s an award nobody wants to win but this time around it was very fitting." Caley said in a post on social media.
12: No. 79 Rodney Beaudrie
Bainer’s OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds:
1st: No. 53 Wade Purchase. Wade set a track record for fastest lap - 15.296 sec/miles/h on July 16. He scored the most checkered flags (20) and most feature flags (10). Wade also received a specialty award for Most Consistent Driver.
Runner up: No,. 1 Shawn Gregory
3rd: Doug O'Blenis. Doug also recieved a specialty award for Outstanding Character.
4th: No. 40 Ron Wadforth
5th: No. 2 Leslie Mowat. Leslie also received recognition for the Best Appearing Car.
6th: No. 51 Mike Freeman
7th: No. 3 Nathan Rinaldi
8th: No. 50 Dylan Boyle. Dylan was also awarded Most Improved Driver in the division.
9th: No. 41 Corey Halbert
10th: No. 5 Wally Alderdice
11th: No. 07 Curtis King
12th: No. 4 Tom Swerbrick
Brighton Automotive Thunder Stocks:
1st: No. 0 Tyler French. Tyler received a specialty award for Most Sportsmanlike Driver. He also finished 18th in the Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series for Street Stocks.
Runner up: No. 85 Austin Reid
3rd: No. 3 Justin Ramsay. He was crowned Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series champion for Street Stocks for the fourth time, second consecutive. Justin also had the most checkered flags (18) and most feature flags (7).
4th No. 1 Brock Gregory. He set a track record with the fastest Lap 16.484 sec/miles/h on July 9. Brock finished 16th in the Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series for Street Stocks.
5th: 5th- No. 72 Doug Anderson. The Big Smooth Anderson finshed 14th in the Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series for Street Stocks.
6th: No. 19 Cory White
7th: No. 9 Josh Black
8th: No. 17 Jeff Humphrey
9th: No. 18 Kyle Anderson
10th: No. 88 Patrick Easton
11th: No. 97 Dave Barrett
12th: No. 41 Ryan Lambert
Honourable Mention to No. 16 Kaitlyn O’Blenis who finished 15th and was the Most Improved Driver in the Thunder Stock division.

1st: No. 44 Tommy Bailey. He was also recognized for a dominate performance this season with the most checkered flags (24) and most feature flags (9).
Runner up: No. 43 Devon Kippen. Devon also had the best appearing car for 2022.
3rd: No. 42 jr Aiden Fletcher
4th: No. 15 Josh Bogaard. Josh was also recognized for setting a track record with the Fastest Lap 17.693 sec/miles/h on May 28.
5th: No. 20 Cody Sager
6th: No. 19 Shannon White. Shannon was also honoured with the Most Improved Driver award for the division in her inaugural year of racing.
7th: No. 33 Adam Milton
8th: No. 22 Keith Dunk
9th: No. 85J Jordan Monaghan
10th: No. 85 Brittany Golden
11th: No. 16 Dawson Evans

10th: No. 11w Mike Whyte. He was also 19th in Insta-Panels Duel on the Dirt Series for Mini Stocks.

Registration for the 2023 season is now open online at brightonspeedway.ca.
Portal for registration payment is also now on the speedway website. Submit the $25.00 registration payment once the form is completed. Additional items are also available on their E commerce site. Drivers still have until March 1 to secure their number and pit spot.
