They were looking to the future of recreation in Belleville on Wednesday.

Mayor, Council and City staff were pleased to join Transition Bike Parks Inc. as they broke ground on the first phase of the new BMX Pump Track at West Riverside Park.

This project was designed through the Parkland and Recreation Master Plan process as a way to fill activity gaps in our community.

Phase 1 of the project is the BMX Pump Track portion which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Phase 2 will involve the construction of beginner and advanced skills centres complete with shelter, utility servicing, lighting, pathways and site amenities.

Phase 3 will involve a risk assessment of the existing bike park and perimeter fencing.

Residents are encouraged to stay tuned to the project page and the City’s social media channels for future project updates.
