Local curler Kayla MacMillan has advanced to the Ontario Under 21 Curling Provincial Championships to be held in January 2017.
MacMillan joined forces with Team Brandwood for the season this , which had set its goals to include advancing to the U21 Ontario Curling Provincials. The team turned in several strong performances so far in the newly formed U21 Slam Series including the Stu Sells Ladies event Thanksgiving weekend on the Ontario Curling Tour to which they were invited after a consolation win in the U21 Stu Sells event in mid-September.
At the qualifying round for the provincials, the team started slowly, falling to Team Morris of St. Catherine's, but rebounded strong to play through the B Side.
Team Brandwood topped Team Katzman and Team Reimer to reach the B-final.
In the rematch with Team Morris, Team Brandwood again struggled early falling four points down after six ends of play,
This time, however, they rallied back, taking a point in the 7th end, stealing two in the 8th, and three in the 9th, before wrapping up an 11-8 win with a steal of one in the 10th
