Belleville man sentenced to jail for forcibile confinement, firing shots

A 25-year-old Belleville man has been sentenced to jail time in connection with an incident north of Madoc in which people were confined to a rural camping area, and shots were fired.
 
Joshua Coculuzzi, who pled guilty in Belleville Court on Aug. 27, 2018 to forcible confinement, dangerous driving, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm, was sentenced on Feb. 11.
 
He was handed a 60-day jail term, a 9-month conditional sentence, a ten-year weapons prohibition and a one-year driving ban, and he was also be on probation for 12 months.
 
Central Hastings OPP responded to a call about shots being fired in the Wolf Lake area of Tudor and Cashel Township on May 17, 2018, and Coculuzzi was arrested by members of the OPP Tactical Response Team on a trail near the lake early the next morning.
 
People who were camping had also been threatened, and weren't allowed to leave their site and get help.
