One inmate at Millhaven Institution was taken to hospital following a reported assault last Monday.
 
Around 10:30 p.m. on September 28, Correctional Service Canada officials stated an inmate was discovered to have been the victim of the assault inside the maximum-security prison.
 
The person was admitted to an outside hospital to be treated for their injuries.
 
No staff members or other inmates were injured during this incident.
 
The investigation by Millhaven staff is continuing with the assistance of the Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad, as the safety and security of institutions, staff, inmates and the public "remains the highest priority."
 
CSC Officials stated they will also be investigating the circumstances of the incident and will continue to work with the police.
