McColm, Katherine Mary
MCCOLM, Katherine Mary “Kitty”- Passed away at her home on June 29th, 2016 with her family at her side. Katherine (Kitty) was in the 91st year of a full and fruitful life.
Kitty was born Katherine Mary Lynch in Winnipeg where her grandfather was the Founding President of the Manitoba College of Physicians and Surgeons. On the death of her father when Kitty was twelve, the family moved to Oakville to be closer to extended family. At the Oakville Yacht Club’s sailing races, she met and later married her husband, Kenneth McColm (RCAF Meteorologist). They moved to Trenton where their sons were born. With two small children, they were then posted to West Germany for a four year adventure. Upon returning to Trenton, the family resided on the Bay of Quinte. Ken predeceased Kitty in 2008 after 50 years of marriage.
Mom was active in many social and community organizations throughout her life. She was a longtime Volunteer at Trenton Memorial Hospital, a Bridge player, gardener and traveller. She had a deep love of the Quinte community and the people of the area. As one of her friends remarked, she always saw the joy in her life.
