It’s Summer Camp 2023

Be Prepared to Have Fun!

We are focused on engaging our campers throughout the day. We will have a routine each day, but campers will have the opportunity to guide the specific activities done each week. Be Prepared has a long history of providing education in the Quinte region and we plan to bring that aspect to our summer camp. Campers will gain first aid education each week as we challenge their creativity, encourage their curiosity and build their self confidence.

Our first priority is to keep your kids safe all summer, but our number one goal will be ensuring each child leaves every day with a smile on their face and excited to come back the next morning (because that makes your life much easier too!).

For any campers that are interested in taking a Home Alone Safety or Babysitting course there will be 3 available weeks where parents can add on a course for their camper for only an additional $10. Home Alone Safety will be available in week 2, 4 and 7 and Babysitting will be available in week 3, 5, and 8. If opting in for this added educational component, your child will be in the classroom setting obtaining their chosen certification on one of their camp days for that week.

Summer Camp Themes

 Animals

For all of our animal lovers and inquisitive minds, come for a week focused on all animals from the fluffy to the aquatic and scaled. We will have guest speakers, fun activities and a chance to interact with some creatures big and small.

STEM (science, technology, engineering & math)

For all the curious and questioning minds this week is one you don’t want to miss! We have a week jam packed with experiments, engineering challenges, and some exciting surprises!

 Arts

From glitter to slime we will challenge creativity and bring out the artist in every camper! From micro crafts to macro creations, learn what is possible with just a little bit of glue, imagination and some guidance from local creators.

Gamers

We’re taking the games offline and creating some real life interactions and excitement – camp style. Fortnite Nerf battles, Minecraft fort building, Roblox role play and scoreboard all week.

It’s a Party

We will be celebrating Summer Birthdays and all our favourite Annual Holidays!

Summer Camp Schedule

Every week will feature a special excursion day and a variety of special activities for the theme of the week. Parents will be notified about excursion details well in advance of camp. Excursion activities may include a day at Zwicks, trip to local splash pad or playground, or a visit with Humane Society. We will also have guest speakers and educators with each weekly theme.

Sign in/out procedures
All campers must be signed in upon arrival, and signed out upon departure from camp by their parent or guardian. A child may only leave the premises without a parent or guardian if the appropriate section of the waiver was filled out with additional pick up options.

Allergy Aware
We cannot ensure an allergen free environment. We are aware when we are notified that a child in camp has an allergy. During these weeks, we encourage parents to pack allergen-free snacks and lunches for the safety of all campers and/or share spaces as safely as possible to try and eliminate cross contamination.

Positive Space
To ensure that all campers have the opportunity to play and grow in a Positive Space, we have a zero tolerance-based system for negative camper conduct. Campers will be informed of our Positive Space policy. It is our intent that this system will allow our campers to feel comfortable and secure during their time at Camp, while reinforcing respect for themselves and others.

Medication(s)
If campers require medication they may leave their medication with our Day Camp Staff. Parents/caregivers are asked to provide Staff with special instruction prior to leaving the camp site. Staff will store medication in a safe location and remind campers when it is time to be taken; however, staff may not administer medication to campers (with the exception of epinephrine).

Contagious Conditions
If you suspect your child may have any contagious conditions such as; flu, head lice, pink eye, severe poison oak etc., we ask that you do not send them to camp. Please notify us to report if your child will be absent from camp for a medical reason. Please inform their leader in order to prevent infecting any other campers.
We encourage you to remind your child not to share any personal items with other campers. There will be a head lice check Monday morning at drop off for the start of each week.

Visitation Policy
Any person wishing to visit outside of regular drop off and pick-up hours MUST notify the Camp Coordinator ahead of the visitation. Visitors are asked to keep their visits to a 15 minute maximum stay to help reduce disruption to the children’s program time.
For individuals who wish to extend their visit beyond 15-minutes by volunteering at camp, please note we will require all volunteers over the age of 18, to complete an application package, orientation and training session and submit a current (no older than 6 months) Criminal Reference Check including the vulnerable sector.

Inclusivity
If your child(ren) have any behavioural or emotional needs that require accommodation please notify us at the time of registration. Our new space is able bodied accessible only at this time; we are located on the second floor of the building and there is no elevator in the building yet.
