A Brighton man is facing impaired driving charges following an incident in downtown Belleville on Friday night.

An officer on patrol says he observed a vehicle drive over a curb, across a sidewalk and through a snowbank before stopping in a parking lot.

After the vehicle was stopped, police said the driver refused to exit and there was a brief struggle.

While at the station, officers said the driver said he wasn’t feeling well because he had consumed fentanyl and cocaine. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The 32-year-old who police did not name was charged with impaired driving, operating a while disqualified, breach of probation and failing to comply with a demand for a blood sample.
