A domestic dispute had been reported to PEC OPP at approximately 10:30 P.M. on Monday.

Officers completed their investigation and one individual was charged with assault.

The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Picton Court at a later date.

Members of the Prince Edward County OPP assisted with a search for a nine-year-old child who was last seen at PECI around 11:30 a.m. on Monday.

The student had reportedly been missing for approximately 30 minutes, and an extensive search was commenced by PEC OPP with additional resources including the Emergency Response Unit and Canine Unit.

With the support from the community, the child was located safely approximately one hour after they went missing.

The OPP would like to thank everyone who assisted in the search.

Their Quiet Room concert will be held at Glanmore National Historic Site on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m.

The intimate performance will take place in Glanmore’s Breakfast Room and will feature Tischbein performing original solo bass works, followed by Forgie showcasing original songs, including selections written for his recording bands Creed and Photograph. The evening will conclude with the two musicians performing a selection of shared musical favourites.

Tischbein’s solo bass work was featured in the award-winning documentary Strings of Inspiration. Internationally acclaimed bassist Michael Manring has described him as “a true 21st Century artist and a soulful tone poet.” Canadian songwriting legend Tom Cochrane has praised Forgie’s work, noting his “belief that music and a smile can change the way people feel and think.”

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., giving guests an opportunity to explore the historic site before the performance begins.

Advance tickets are required as seating is limited. Special event ticket prices are $15 for adults, $12.75 for seniors and $9.75 for children.

Seasonal water levels and flows will be reached over the next few weeks. Recent weather conditions of rainfall and warm temperatures produced a third phase of the freshet, causing elevated river and lake levels that have peaked at what is expected to be the high point for the spring.

The Quinte area weather forecast is mostly clear with no significant amounts of rain over the next 10 days. Accompanied with warm temperatures that will start on Wednesday, reductions in ponding and soil moisture saturation can be expected.

Watershed creeks and rivers are currently swollen from rain and snowmelt. Recent weather conditions have caused water levels to rise quickly and generate nuisance flooding around small watercourses, urban areas, and ditches.

Large river systems and inland lakes have responded quickly to the additional water inputs. The snowpack throughout the watershed has been nearly depleted with only isolated pockets remaining. All watercourses and lakes have now peaked and are starting to recede.

As water levels subside from the spring freshet, Quinte Conservation will be operating the seasonal dams for summer as conditions allow.

Risks:

Swollen, small creeks and watercourses may remain elevated but are currently receding from bankfull conditions. Watercourses may respond to possible rains within a day before continuing to recede to seasonal levels.

Major waterways are high but stable from rain and snowmelt experienced earlier in the month. Near bankfull conditions could be maintained next week. Serious flooding is not expected this spring. Nuisance flooding is likely to reoccur around creeks and small watercourses if significant rains are received.

Received rains have melted the remaining snowpack north of HWY 7. The Moira River and its northern tributaries (Black River, Skootamatta River and Moira River north of Tweed) have responded with a third higher peak, which is now receding. Higher flows may continue for several weeks.

Residents in flood prone or low-lying areas are reminded to remain vigilant to changes in water levels and weather forecasts while the water levels fall to normal seasonal levels. It is recommended to ensure sump pumps are in good working condition and have access to a portable backup generator and pump during this return to lower water levels. Ponding water can be avoided by keeping ditches, culverts, and storm drains clear from obstructions.

The Municipality of Brighton invites the community to attend its first annual Sport and Recreation Showcase, taking place this Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at King Edward Park Arena (75 Elizabeth Street).

The showcase will bring together local sports groups, and recreation clubs to highlight programs available in Brighton and promote active healthy living, all under one roof.

A highlight of the day will be the official announcement of Brighton’s new Junior A hockey team, including the unveiling of the team’s logo.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate following a collision in Greater Napanee.

Tuesday night, an officer from the Lennox and Addington (L&A) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Bath Road. Shortly after, the vehicle entered the ditch and then into Lake Ontario, where it became submerged.

It is unknown how many occupants were inside the vehicle.

Several resources, including the Prince Edward County OPP Marine Unit, OPP Aviation Services, the OPP East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, were deployed and continue efforts to locate any possible occupants.

Highway 33 is currently closed at County Road 21, west of Bath in Greater Napanee, as the on-scene investigation continues (see below for detour routes).

As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.

UPDATE at 7:50 am

Highway 33 remains closed eastbound at County Road 21 and westbound at County Road 7/Church Street in Greater Napanee. Motorists can detour using County Road 7, County Road 8 and County Road 22 as the closure is expected to be lengthy. Workers at the plant will be allowed to pass though the closure to access the facility. Other members of the public should avoid the area and use the detour routes in place. Officers are on scene to provide further guidance.

ORIGINAL STORY – More information is expected on Wednesday about a crash late Tuesday night that resulted in a vehicle going into the water west of Bath.

Around 11:20 pm, the OPP posted on social media that Highway 33/Bath Road was closed west of Bath to County Road 21.

Emergency crews were responding to a vehicle in the water.

A collision was reported in that same area a few minutes later.

There are no details about injuries.

Highway 33 was closed for several hours west of Bath overnight for the investigation and was still closed on Wednesday morning.

OPP said in an update at 5:40 am that it would likely be closed for several more hours.

The group is expected to receive a presentation regarding the “2026 Municipal Election,” and will aim to approve agreements for the 2026 edition of Quinte West Pop-ups.

7 seasonal vendors and 9 rotating vendors are seeking approval for operation down at Centennial Park from May 15 to September 6.

Also on the docket are delegations on the Quinte West Youth Centre, resident concerns on “Property Standards and Security/Outdoor Lighting and potential reduced ice costs for next season for the Frankford Huskies.

On April 21st at 1:30pm, Belleville Police responded to a neighbour dispute at a residence in the city’s west end.

Police learned that a verbal argument between two neighbouring households escalated when a male from one residence charged at the neighbour, while a female from the same residence swung an object at the neighbour. Upon investigation, it was learned that the male involved was on conditions to not communicate with the neighbour. As a result of investigation, the following persons were arrested and charged:

A 41-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. She was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July. A 40-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with fail to comply with a probation order X2. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in July.
