PHILP, Marlene Ann (nee Rikley)

May 3rd, 1934 – February 28th, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marlene Philp, of Stirling, Ontario, at the Belleville General Hospital with family by her side on Friday, February 28th, 2020 at the age of 85. Daughter of the late George & Iva (nee Minaker) Rikley. Marlene is predeceased by her much loved husband of 60 years, Robert ‘Bob’ Philp. Beloved mother of Bruce (Linda), Steven (Tammy) and Kim McInroy (Gary) all of Stirling. Proud grandmother of Jennifer Philp, Bob Philp, Kyle McInroy, Gabe McInroy, Shawn Philp (Jessica), Courtney Philp (Liam) and great grandmother of Adele and Audrey. Marlene is also survived by her brothers Don Rikley (Denise), Fred Rikley (late Clara) and her sister Janet Robinson (John). She is predeceased by her sister Diane Walmsley (late Ross). Niece to Monica (late Carman) Rikley. Sister in-law to the late Evelyn Wherry (late John), Helen Philp (late Bryce Philp) and the late Donna Philp. As well there are many nieces and nephews.

Marlene’s passion was playing cards, she was a master bridge player along with being a member of the 55 club. Her hobby was painting art and attending her art club along with the many trips they made together. She was also a long time member of St. Paul’s United Church, Stirling.
The family would like to thank Dr. Janet Webb, the nursing staff at ParaMed (Victoria & Linda) along with the nursing staff at Quinte 5 & the Sills 4 wing.

The family will receive friends at the STIRLING FUNERAL CHAPEL LTD. 87 James St. Stirling (613-395-2424) on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Memorial Services will be held Friday, March 6th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. (with visitation one hour prior). Inurnment Stirling Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
