Major damage was largely averted in a vehicle fire on Highway 401 in Quinte West on Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze in what was reported to be a Tesla car, broke out just before 2:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway near the Wooler Rd. exit.
An OPP official told InQuinte.ca the driver was able to get out and there were no injuries reported.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whelan confirmed the fire was minor in nature and did not impact the battery section of the vehicle.
One lane was closed until the vehicle could be removed.
The fire was put out quickly and the scene was cleared before 3:30 pm.
